{Media Invite} A Marriott Thanksgiving & Christmas 2015

It was Monday evening, the eve of a Public Holiday! That’s one good reason to be happy but both Shirley and I were more excited about where we were headed.

Yup, we were arriving at Marriott Singapore for a glimpse into their exciting festive offerings for Thanksgiving and Christmas! And we were in for a real treat!

This Christmas, you can have a great party at home even if you’re not slaving in the kitchen and cooking up a storm. Simply, click and order Marriott Christmas great takeaways and you can save the hassle of cooking and get busy decorating the home and making yourself look pretty 🙂

Who says Christmas has to be only about roasts! We tried this wonderful new creation at the Media Invite and were blown away!

It was interesting because the Chef had to first crack open the crust before getting to the fish, I stood there amused. As the Chef skilfully carved away the bones of the snapper and offered me a slice of this rather unusual dish, I had my doubts because I’m not a fish person! My doubts melted away as soon as I took the first morsel of this delicious red snapper, I loved it! It was so tasty, none of the fishy smell or aftertaste that I so dread. Double thumbs up for this delightful healthy dish… I may even order this for the family 🙂

Truffle Buttered Roast Turkey  $498 (9-10kg) with “Piemonte’s Finanziera Staub Terrine” and Madeira Sauce

No Thanksgiving or Christmas party is complete without the traditional turkey. Although I’m not usually a fan of this big bird, I was pleasantly surprised at the Media Invite. Marriott’s limited edition Truffle Buttered Roast Turkey was neither dry or tasteless like a lot of other ready baked turkeys are. I was delighted that the turkey meat sliced for me was juicy, tasty and tender! Maybe I just have expensive classy taste? LOL!

Compliment it with this special “Piemonte’s Finanziera Staub Terrine” and Madeira Sauce, and your Christmas Turkey dinner is complete. This offal terrine which consists of veal tongue, pig’s ear, cockscomb, beef lung and tripe served in a cast iron terrine mould is not for the faint hearted once they know its contents ahhaha… but it is such a special delicacy that certainly puts that festive touch of class to your Christmas feasting!

Traditional Roast Turkey with Chestnut, Foie Gras Stuffing with Cranberry & Port Wine Sauce (9-10kg, $288 / 4.5-5kg, $172)

Marriott has another two options to cater to your party needs. A larger 9-10 kg Turkey for $288 or a 4.5-5kg one for $172. If you are planning a Thanksgiving Party, the smaller Roasted Turkey 4.5-5kg along with a whole range of sides, breads, cakes and pies, is also available for pre-order.

Honey & Clove Glazed Ham with Cinnamon Pineapple Sauce

I loved that the ham wasn’t overly salty and tasted just right. A must have for any good Christmas Party that you are hosting or perhaps considering to gift to family and friends.

This regular Christmas feature comes with 3 choice size options to fit your party needs. There’s Bone- In (9-10 kg, $405 and 5-6kg, $205) and Boneless (2-3kg, $152). The Boneless 2-3kg option is also available for Thanksgiving Pre-order! Something to note about hotel hams, somehow they do last a lot longer than what’s sold at the supermarkets. I don’t know if it’s the extra care taken in curing the meats but it’s worth the price paid especially if you can’t finish up the ham so quickly in one night.

Prune and Pancetta Stuffed Roast Pork Saddle

This is like my absolute favourit-est dish on earth! haha… Shirley knows how I relish the super crispy skin every time I come by a yummy slab of Roast Pork.

Oooo… look at that mouth watering delicious crispy skin cooked to crackle perfection just waiting to be savoured by Moi! hahaha…. happy is this girl when you place this dish on her menu. My heart skipped two beats when the lady in front of me rejected the entire skin! hahah I jumped at the chance and proudly announced to the Chef, “I’ll gladly have it!” hehehe… No regrets whatsoever! 🙂

As with their delightful moon cake offerings for the Mid Autumn Festival (read our Review), Marriott’s chefs were not about to disappoint our taste buds for the Christmas season especially in the desserts department.

Strawberry Cream Raspberry Lychee Log Cake 1Kg $68 

This new creation is well worth a mention or two! I absolutely loved the combination of the Strawberry Raspberry and Lychee taste – it was not overly sweet, but had a nice savoury twist. Plus there was this nice chunky centre core of jelly that was divine! hahah … Seriously good!

The only thing to watch out for is to keep this well chilled before serving, and it’s probably a good idea to slice it up for the guests to avoid a mess because the centre core can be difficult to cut for the inexperienced and eager! LOL! Super must try! And you’re bound to get compliments from your party guests!

Another new creation is the Kaya Namachoco Yule Log! This very rich chocolate yule log will really make the sweet tooth in you feel pampered and set you in a Christmas mood all at once! A good gifting option for parties and family.

Fruit Mince Pies with Brandy Butter, 6pcs $35

Have you had a Fruit Mince Pie? Well I had not till the Media Event and they are not just pretty to look at and display, they tasted great! I wished I had not eaten quite so much of the mains earlier so I could have had another little fruit mince pie! Mmmm…. I won’t mind being invited to a party with some of these on the menu!! 🙂 Super!

Christmas Stollen to steal your heart!

Even though I was stuffed, I had to have a slice of the Christmas Stollen because it looked so good. haha… and it was just as what I had hoped for, every bit yummy with the fruits, nuts and figs! Available in 2 size options 500gm, $26 and 1kg, $40… how can anyone resist this! A good one to include in any Christmas Hamper and gifting! I loved the Christmas Stollen I received last year in a hotel Christmas Hamper!
