{Review + Giveaway} BreadTalk’s Hello Kitty Mooncake Set | Kawaii In A Makeup Toolbox Case

*SCREAM*  Yes you read it right!  For the forever youthful Hello Kitty fans, do not miss this limited edition launch of Hello Kitty moon cake collection by BreadTalk!  This limited edition range consists of two pieces each of the Lotus with Macadamia, Lotus with Cranberries, and BreadTalk®-exclusive Lotus with Yolk Blend mooncakes.

BreadTalk Hello Kitty Mooncake

Hello Kitty 6-pc Mini Moon Cake Set, S$59.80

The box of Hello Kitty moon cakes is not simply filled with edible “meowish” delights with Hello Kitty motifs.  The eye-catching red box opens up to reveal six (6) individually sealed mini moon cakes and a pair of petite BreadTalk knife/fork set separately wrapped in Hello Kitty paper boxes.

I will probably be fighting over the box with jiejie, for it is meant to be used as a makeup kit after enjoying the delish traditional mooncakes.  The compact yet sturdy makeup toolbox case even comes with a built-in mirror – simply “purrfect” for the feminine species (aged 0-130) who appreciate all things bright and beautiful! Be gentle with the lock set though! Don’t simply slam it shut.

So excited that it’s a “luggage” case for her. Here fiddling with the little golden key at the key hole. Can you see the focused look on her face?

The moon cakes seem to be dry on the thin pastry crust.  For someone who prefers thinner pastry crust on traditional moon cakes, this is the perfect selection.  I prefer mine to at least have some thickness so that I can taste the flavour from the crust too. But then, there’ll be some who will complain of being “shortchanged” over the lotus paste. Hahah!!

The abundant lotus paste within each moon cake tastes pretty good as it is rich in flavour, not very dry and not overly sweet.  For me, that’s just right.

I can’t bear to cut up the piece with Hello Kitty’s face on it at the moment.  Filled with Lotus Paste and Cranberries within, I will leave it to your imagination for now, until I feel that it should be eaten and not left to rot.

Lotus with Cranberries ~ Everybody wants a share! So do their little figurines ❤

The Lotus Paste with Yolk Blend is a combination of both sweet and savoury taste which we are all so guilty of over-consumption during every Mid Autumn Festival.  Looks good ya?  I totally love anything with salted egg yolk  >.<

This is how the insides of Lotus Paste with Macademia Nuts look like.  Tastes wise is ok too with the pastry crust similar to the other pieces, a little dry.  The pretty case alone can easily overcome this small little issue!  Isn’t the carrying makeup toolbox case the cutest thing ever?!! This would appeal to the young ones (and actually the young-at-hearts) too!  What’s more, the carrying case can be kept for good uses or be gifted to the kiddy for keeping her masak-masak when travelling.

Lotus Paste with Macademia Nuts – good choice of combination there instead of the more common melon seeds.

If you’re a fan of Hello Kitty or know of anyone who’s a fan, this might be a perfect gift to buy her heart!  You’ll get the credit when she shows everyone (on Facebook no less) her delightfully kawaii Hello Kitty Mooncake set!  ❤

Amongst this rousing spirit of kinship between family and friends this Mid-Autumn Festival, everyone can get together to celebrate this joyous occasion over a delightful box of mooncakes.  By all means, go show off this kawaii carrying case!  I can foresee it won’t leave my daughter’s hands once I “release” it to her.  Hahahahha!!!

Exclusively available at BreadTalk outlets island-wide, this Hello Kitty moon cake set can be purchased from 24 August to 27 September 2015.  Don’t say we never tell you!]
