Metropolitan Productions presents The LKY Musical

Who can forget the week of 23 March 2015? The tears that fell for a man and all that he did for a country he loved? A great leader with unwavering determination, that dedicated his entire being to the building up of our country, Singapore. A man who gave us an opportunity for a better life.

Well, something phenomenal is about to take stage at the Sands Theatre,  MasterCard Theatres® at Marina Bay Sands from 21 July – 16 August 2015. Most definitely, this SG50 Jubilee year’s absolute Must Do & Must Watch is The LKY Musical, a tribute to our Founding Father.

Three years in the making, Dick Lee’s latest and much anticipated musical, The LKY Musical,  promises to be an epic historical drama of the tumultuous times of pre-independence Singapore with tremendous emotional depth.

Central to the play is the iconic leader and Founding Father of Singapore, Mr Lee Kuan Yew, whose public and private life form the crux of the story. It is also going to be Singapore’s very own timeless love story as the musical presents Mr Lee’s beautiful enduring relationship with his wife Mdm Kwa Geok Choo. A tale of intense drama, intrigue, betrayal, love and loyalty, The LKY Musical is a celebration of Mr Lee’s extraordinary vision and leadership in taking Singapore from Third World to First World.

A star studded cast of Adrian Pang as Lee Kuan Yew, Sharon Au as Kwa Geok Choo, Sebastian Tan as Koh Teong Koo (the everyman) and introducing Benjamin Chow as Lim Chin Siong. This exciting project is the work of an international team of artists –with music by Singapore’s iconic musician and composer, Dick Lee, lyrics by Laurence Olivier Award winner Stephen Clark, book by Tony Petito and a story devised by internationally renowned Singaporean author Meira Chand. Directed by veteran London director Steven Dexter (Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress), this is a production that will put the drama of the Singapore Story firmly on a world platform.
